The Tower of London has stood by the side of the River Thames for over 900 years. It started off as one single tower but over the centuries has expanded into the formidable complex we see today.
Most famous as home to the Crown Jewels, The Tower also boasts many colourful stories since it has been used over the years as a; Prison, Fortress, Royal Palace, Royal Mint, Astronomical Observatory and as a Menagerie for wild animals.
